Brian Huang

Secretary General

Brian Huang is a fourth-year student at Berkeley majoring in Economics and International Political Economy, with a focus on China’s economic development. He is extremely interested in East Asian politics and international relations. In addition to China, Brian is also interested in global poverty and economic development. This will be his fourth year in BMUN, and his eighth year participating in Model United Nations. For the past three years, he has served on the Crisis staff at BMUN. This year, he is privileged to serve as the Secretary General of the 58th session. He has also staffed conferences in Los Angeles and Beijing. Outside of Model United Nations, Brian enjoys playing basketball, rooting for Cal football, watching independent films, and finding new music.

Taylor Wiegele

Chief of Staff

Taylor Wiegele is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in Applied Physical Science. When he's not working on a lab or a problem set he's probably swimming laps, running, or listening to music. Taylor's involvement in Model United Nations is in its sixth year, his fourth at Berkeley. Taylor served as the USG of Internal Relations for the 57th session and is extremely excited to bring his experience to the 58th session as the Chief of Staff. As a long-time competitor and chair in Model United Nations competitions at both the high school and collegiate level Taylor is confident that head chairs this year will be extremely well-versed in parliamentary procedure and individual country policy, continuing with the tradition of excellence at Berkeley Model United Nations. Taylor will also be the head chair of the League of Arab States Crisis Committee and is looking forward to the 58th!

Kalis is entering her fourth year both at Berkeley and as a member of BMUNs secretariat. She is double majoring in Political Science and Classics with a minor in History of Art. In her free time she enjoys cooking, music and traveling and is so excited to meet this years delegates!

Catherine Choh

Catherine Choh

Under-Secretary General of External Relations

Catherine is a third-year Political Economy of Industrial Societies major from southern California. This will be her third year of involvement withBMUN and seventh year of involvement with Model UN. While she has had a blast chairing for the Crisis simulations in the last two years, she cannot wait to be a head chair of a giant General Assembly committee! As this year's USG of External Relations, she is also looking forward to living in her e-mail account––info@bmun.net––and working with all the wonderful advisors out there!

Nicolas Walder

Nicolas Walder

Under-Secretary General of Logistics

Nicolas Walder is a third year student, majoring in Rhetoric and Political Science. This is Nic’s third year with BMUN and fifth year participating in Model United Nations. Nic has chaired at multiple conferences around California, as well as one in China in 2008. Outside of BMUN, he works in the Student Advocate’s Office, where he helps students receive financial aid so they can afford to go to college. In his free time outside of these clubs, Nic is passionate about watching *Jeopardy,* *Seinfeld *and *Curb Your Enthusiasm*. He also loves to eat, watch baseball, and listen to music (he even does all three together sometimes!). As Under-Secretary General of Logistics, Nic is looking forward to putting on a great BMUN conference come March.

Julius Chen

Under-Secretary General of Research

Julius is a senior at UC Berkeley majoring in Economics and has completed Pre-Medical studies. This is Julius’ fourth year in BMUN, and he is ecstatic to once again be an officer and the head chair for NATO. A native of Southern California, Julius is an avid Cal football fan and loves traveling. Julius’ deep interests in international and domestic health issues drive his continued participation in MUN, and he is working on health care policy formulation this summer at a major think tank in Washington DC. With graduation soon approaching, Julius is deciding between attending medical and law schools.

Charlene Raman

Under-Secretary General of Special Events

Charlene is a third year Public Health student minoring in Global Poverty and Practice. This will be Charlene's third year in BMUN and seventh year involved in Model United Nations. As USG of Special Events, Charlene looks forward to organizing a very memorable Opening and Closing Ceremony, and dance for all the delegates. After spending the past summer volunteering for the Non-Profit Project Rishi in rural India, Charlene is very excited to serve as the head chair for WHO. Along with BMUN, Charlene's interests also include traveling, swimming, playing water polo, and going to the beach.

Brian is a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in Cognitive Science, with a minor in Computer Science. This is his second year in BMUN, and is excited about what is to come in the months ahead. In the 57th Session Brian was an attorney in the International Criminal Court, and will be participating in the 58th session in the International Court of Justice. Brian has a unique array of hobbies, ranging from reading about various math theorems, to debating about the world's political issues. Brian is very excited about 58th session!

Under-Secretary General of Publications

Hannah is a second-year at the University of California Berkeley. Since high school, Hannah has been involved in the Model United Nations program. She particularly enjoys specialized committees. In the past, she has had the opportunity to chair UNICEF, Security Council, and the Sino-US Strategic Economic Dialogues. This past summer she also went to Beijing, China to chair the WEMUN international conference. At Berkeley, she is planning on double majoring in Development Studies and Business with a possible minor in Creative Writing. On her spare time, she enojy video editing, creative writing, reading, and playing tennis! As the USG of Publications this year, she is thrilled about making FANTASTIC program guides, placards, and credentials for all of the participants!

Phoebe Peronto

Under-Secretary General of Treasury

Phoebe is a second-year student at UC Berkeley, and is currently undeclared. She has been involved in debate for the past 5 years, and recently transitioned to Model UN last year. At BMUN’s 57th session, Phoebe was a defense attorney in the International Criminal Court. She will be reprising this role in the 58th session in the International Court of Justice. Phoebe’s interests are diverse. In addition to BMUN, she enjoys running, singing in the UC Women’s Chorus, and long walks on the beach. Phoebe looks forward to meeting the 58th’s delegates!

Shreyans Kothari is a second year undeclared student at UC Berkeley from Bangkok, Thailand. In his free time Shreyans enjoys traveling, watching movies, watching sports (especially soccer), trying new restaurants, keeping up to date with world/tech news and hanging out with friends. This is Shreyans’ eighth year doing Model United Nations (second with BMUN), and he is looking forward to serving as USG of Records for BMUN 58.

Shashank Iyer is a senior at UC Berkeley, studying Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies. Shashank is serving his fourth year in BMUN. In addition to being the head chair of Historic Security Council, Shashank will also be the USG of Alumni Relations. His hobbies are reading about politics, traveling, and playing cricket!
